Hugon Cabins & Smoke Saunas is a small, family-run hospitality destination located in Rautjärvi, Eastern Finland, close to the Finnish–Russian border.
We offer lakeside cabins, traditional smoke saunas, a summer café and simple hostel-style accommodation throughout the year. Our experiences are based on silence, darkness, nature and authentic Finnish sauna culture. The main season runs from October to January, when guests come to experience northern darkness, quiet forests and bathing in a wood-heated smoke sauna by the lake.
Our place is not an attraction, but a real living environment with history. The surrounding area is rich in borderland history, wartime heritage, nature and local culture. Guided visits and themed experiences are arranged together with trusted local partners.
The region is historically known for Simo Häyhä, the Finnish sniper of the Winter War; his museum is located nearby. For us, history is presented respectfully as part of the broader story of the border region and everyday life.
